A girl from Carenage,

Trinidad & Tobago

Wendy Saunders was born in Carenage, Trinidad.
As a young child growing up, when a plane was passing by her home, she would rush out and
yell at the plane to stop and pick her up too. Wendy was fascinated with airplanes and of
course too young to understand the logistics of landing an airplane on the hill side where she
lived.

How Everly came to life

Wendy became an avid reader and immersed herself into reading books which then ignited her imagination and curiosity about destinations around the world. Her grand mother took her on
church retreats to many Caribbean islands and her passion for traveling and meeting new people, cultures, cuisine and exploring new cities, grew from this.

In 2018, Wendy thought about writing a book which would chronicle a story of a young Trinidadian girl who dared to dream about travel experiences beyond her island.

Her first grand daughter was born in 2019 with the beautiful name of Everly.
The name was taken and attached to the book.
Covid roared its ugly head in 2020 and traveling was the last thing on anyone’s mind.
The task of finding an illustrator who could capture the image of Everly and bring her to life on paper, proved difficult.
Everly and all her travels remained in Wendy’s head.

A promise kept

Until … 2024….

Returning from a trip to London with her son, Wendy came home to an extremely ill husband who succumbed to Leukemia a couple of months later.

On his death bed, Wendy promised to finally publish all the books about Everly which had been previously discussed between them for years.
