Meet the Characters - Everly Loves Travel

A little Explorer from a small island, on a big adventure

Everly is a happy and adventurous 7-year-old who loves traveling to different countries. She gets excited about meeting new people and seeing new animals that are not in her home country of Trinidad. Whether she is exploring a new city, visiting a new beach or going on a family road trip, Everly is always curious and eager to learn about her surroundings. Everly’s love for travel helps her to create wonderful memories which she is always happy to share with her friends and family members!

Everly’s stories are more than travel diaries — they’re windows into cultures, friendships, and the wonder of being a young and curious adventurer in a wide, beautiful world.   Each book follows Everly as she arrives somewhere new, makes a friend, tastes something unfamiliar, and fills her journal with words, stories and drawings that bring her adventures to life.

Written for children aged 5–12, the Everly’s Loves Travel series celebrates the author’s Caribbean identity, her own experiences of travel and her love for her granddaughter, Everly.

Meet Everly’s family and other important characters in her journeys

Everly’s Father, Paul

Everly’s father is a pilot with an international airline carrier for around 15 years. He flies airplanes to many different places around the world and he loves his job because he gets to travel and meet new people. When he is not flying, he enjoys spending time with his family, going to the beach and visiting other family members. Paul is very happy that he can share his stories with his family and take them on trips to various destinations.

Everly’s Mother, Patricia

Everly’s mother is a popular seamstress who sews clothes for her family, friends and clients. She has her own clothing line known as Trini Thyme and travels extensively to attend fashion shows to promote her brand. She has two children, Everly and Julian, and is married to Paul, their father. Patricia enjoys traveling to experience other cultures, cuisines and historic cities. She has an appreciation for the diversity and beauty in the world and tries to impart this into her children.

Everly’s Brother, Julian

Julian is an energetic and curious 10-year-old boy who loves playing cricket, football and spending time outdoors with his fishing rod. Every Friday evening, he can be found fishing by the river located 5 minutes from his house. He has a fishing rod which is father had bought for him whilst on a stop-over in Grenada. Julian has an adventurous spirit, loves to explore new countries with his family, and is very protective of his sister, Everly.

Everly’s Best Friend, Ariah

Ariah lives next door to Everly and they both grew up together. Ariah has one brother, Castiel. Since she does not have any sisters, Ariah spends a lot of her time at Everly’s house. She goes shopping with the family and eats at their house. Her favorite room is Everly’s mother sewing room. She enjoys listening to Everly’s mother recount stories from trips that she has taken. Ariah has not taken a trip as yet with Everly but she is hopeful it will happen soon.

Everly’s pet Dog, Crixie

Crixie is a loyal and loving pet dog who brings joy and companionship to his family. He loves to follow the family down to the beach but refuses to go into the water. Most of the time he can be found either sleeping in Everly’s bedroom or chasing the turkeys around the backyard. He was given to Everly as a birthday gift from her uncle, Roger, 2 years ago.

Everly’s pet Rooster, Ben

Ben is a friendly and colorful rooster with lots of energy. Every morning, he proudly crows to greet the day at 5:30 am. Ben helps to keep everyone on schedule including the other chickens in the backyard. He likes to explore the yard and follow Everly around once she goes in the back to feed the chickens, turkeys, and rabbits. His playful nature makes him a beloved member of the household.

Everly's Uncle Roger

Everly’s uncle is kind, caring, and always ready to offer support and encouragement to his family. He enjoys spending quality time with his sister’s family, sharing stories from his job as a postman. He has a sense of humor, always telling jokes to everyone. When Everly’s father is away from the house, Roger always comes over to eat dinner with the family and to help out with their home-work assignments. Through his guidance, generosity and love for his family, he plays an important role in the lives of his nieces and nephews.

Everly’s Neighbor, Sharida

Sharida lives 2 doors away from Everly’s home. She is 2 years older than Everly. Sharida’s mother is a Caterer who makes Indian dishes for sale. Sharida is always bringing over her mother’s dishes for Everly and her family to eat. She also comes over to help Everly to feed the animals in the backyard. Sharida loves to dance and has won a couple of dance competitions at her school. She is always practicing her dance moves at Everly’s home, trying to teach Everly some Indian dance moves too.
